Understanding Your Speed Test Results

DOWNLOAD

Your download speed indicates how long it takes an information packet to travel from the internet to your device. It's usually measured in megabytes per second (Mb/s). High download speeds allow you to download large files or browse pages with lots of photos in the blink of an eye.

UPLOAD

Your upload speed indicates how long it takes an information packet to travel from your device to the internet. Also usually measured in megabytes per second (Mb/s), it's a critical metric to consider when you frequently attend video calls or upload files to the cloud.

PING

Ping measures how quickly you send and receive data packets. Low ping reduces latency, which is crucial for competitive gaming and live streaming. This metric is usually measured in milliseconds (ms). If your ping result is over 50 ms, you might experience delays.

Mb/s vs. Gb/s

One gigabit is 1000 Mb/s. Although Mb/s is the common and widely used metrics, Gb/s is just a shorter notation of the same speed. The higher the number of megabits per second, the faster the data transfer rate. 1 Gig (1000 Mb/s) internet is considered lightning-fast.
